Just as they were about to open the oven door, the Gingerbread Man hopped out and ran out the door. They chased him and as they did more people joined because they wanted the Gingerbread Man for their own. Ideal Students: I believe many young students will enjoy this peculiar story of how a cookie came to life. The little rhyme that the Gingerbread Man states is what makes this story memorable. Core Standards: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.9 Compare and contrast two or more versions of the same story (e.g., Cinderella stories) by different authors or from different cultures. This book fits with this standard because there are many different adaptions of this story from different author as well as cultures.
